Paid Web Development & Writing Internship | Washington, DC

Position Summary

Creative Analytics, a digital strategy and marketing agency, is seeking a detail-oriented, self-guided and enterprising candidate for the Web Development & Writing Internship position. The ideal candidate will be a person with a strong interest in digital communications and web development. There will be minimal on-site supervision (the candidate will report directly to an off-site staff member) but there will also be a regular daily meeting with executive staff and daily assigned tasks. The candidate will be involved in a variety of web development tasks and some digital communications planning and execution across several channels – blogs, social media, website, and email. You’ll work under our team’s guidance to grow online visibility for our agency and our clients; developing valuable content and web development work for a wide range of brands. Additionally, there will be analytics and administrative tasks, as assigned.
Intern will also have a monthly training meeting with CEO on related topic of their choice for entire length of internship.



Responsibilities

  • Researching, drafting and publishing engaging blog, offer (Videos, Whitepapers, Webinars, Kits, Checklists, etc.), and social media content (including graphics and copy)
  • Daily monitoring of multiple social channels – manage one-on-one community engagement: respond to questions, reinforce positive comments, and remedy negative comments, engage with other’s content in brand voice
  • Work on web design & development projects as needed
  • Attend networking functions, as needed
  • Reviewing and auditing content for CMS migrations
  • Other administrative & special project tasks as needed


Requirements

  • PHP or Jquery coding skills
  • Strong writing skills and proficiency in non-academic writing, with a strong grasp of English grammar, editing and familiarity with AP style
  • Strong internet research skills
  • Provides outstanding client service with active listening and helpful attitude
  • Creativity, congeniality, integrity, sound judgment, enterprising attitude, and superior problem-solving ability
  • Enrolled as a Junior or Senior in a undergrad or graduate program in Communications, Web Design & Development, English, Journalism, Public Relations, Business or related
  • Pleasant and professional phone and in-person demeanor
  • Ability to efficiently prioritize tasks, organize projects and multitask
  • Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively
  • Experience writing and posting content across a variety of media channels – social, email, web, direct mail
  • Strong social media skills and in-depth knowledge of communities and trends
  • Experience using Adobe CC (primarily Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, and Photoshop) and Microsoft Office
  • Interest in subject matter
  • Works at fast pace without sacrificing attention to detail – strong time management skills

Note: Intern must bring own laptop and phone daily, but all software will be provided.

 


 

Desired Skills

  • WordPress or Drupal skills
  • Experience using Mailchimp (or similar), Hootsuite (or similar), Basecamp (or similar), Google Analytics (or similar), Hubspot (or similar), Google Docs/Drive, Evernote (or similar), Google Adwords, Facebook Ads, Join.me, Asana, Weekdone
  • Recommends improvements and modifications to processes for maximum efficiency
